EDPro Logos57.png Who has time to read books?

Most EDPros are jammed for time. Yet, a lot of good insights can come from books -- management, politics, science, economics.

The purpose of this section of EDPro Premium is to give you some sense of how you might spend your precious reading time. Here's I'll give you a summary and review of some of the books I have found most interesting, insightful and practical. You choose for yourself what interests you.

If you want to suggest a book for EDPro Book Notes, simply e-mail me.  I'll get the book, read it, and then post my notes. I am looking for books that will be most helpful to other EDPros. I'm looking for books that are not on the list of usual suspects. Here are some of the books I'll be covering in the coming weeks.

Get Them on Your Side by Samuel Bacharach

Most EDPros probably don't think of themselves as politicians, but that does not mean we do not need political skills. Indeed, political skills -- the ability to form coalitions and get stuff done -- are core to success in economic development. But what are these political skills? Who teaches them? How do can we analyze a particular situation? And what is a "stakeholder" after all? Bacharach addresses these questions and more with this short, practical guide to political competency.
